Alistair and Cailean (pronounced Kay-lan) are 7 and 6 year old brothers from Scotland. They started riding bikes as soon as they learned to walk and they haven’t stopped pedalling since. They live in Alexandria, close to Loch Lomond, with their mum and dad and two dogs, a German Shepherd called Baxter and a crazy Wolfdog called Mac.

Seven year old Ali is mountain biking mad, and pretty crazy for other sports too. He finds it hard to fit climbing, ice hockey and swimming around a little inconvenience called ‘school’, but manages somehow. When he’s not mountain biking (or working hard in maths class), he can be found building spaceships out of Lego or blowing up enemies in Tank Wars.

We asked Ali…

What’s your favourite mountain biking track so far?

I love Jump Lines at Fort William. It’s got drops, tabletops, tight corners and some hills. I’ve been down it a few times and it keeps getting better.

If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Tomatoes because they taste so good. Like, those really little ones are the best.

What’s your top movie of all time (so far)?

Minions Movie. They’re crazy things, aren’t they. My favourite Minion is Bob, he’s just nuts. I like the colour yellow too. It’s the same colour as my Commencal bike.

You’ve had a few crashes already. What was your worst?

My worst crash was in France when I was five. We went on holiday to see the motocross (MXGP St Jean D’Angely) and I was riding my bike over a bridge. I went off a drop, flipped the front end and landed on my head. Just as well I was wearing my helmet. There were these French people sitting next to the water and they came running over yelling stuff at me, but I don’t know what they were saying. It probably looked pretty bad. I didn’t break anything though, like I had some bruises and stuff, that’s all.

Best moment on a mountain bike?

Any time I’m going fast down a mountain. Or over rocks. I like rocks.

What’s your top bucket list mountain biking destination?

Banana Peel run. It’s in America somewhere, I think (Trestle Bike Park, Colorado). It has massive jumps between the ramps and it’s really, really fast. They call it Banana Peel cos it’s so slippery and that’s just really mad, isn’t it.

Name five things you love?

Playing Minecraft on my iPad, swimming, rock climbing and ice hockey. Oh, and motocross. I’ve got a KTM. Do I have to stick to five? I really like waterfalls too.

So what don’t you like?

Parsnips, midges and crashing.

Give us your funniest joke?

What did the road say to the earthquake? You crack me up.

Cailean Galloway

Cailean Galloway ready for mountain biking in Fort William

Cailean (said Kay-lan) is a six year old speed demon on two wheels or blades. He’s mental for mountain biking and scary on the ice as one of the youngest ice hockey players on their team. Don’t let his cute looks fool you though, cos this little cherub has got a pretty major temper on him when things don’t go his way – shh….we’ll show you some of his most embarrassing videos when he’s not looking ;).

We asked Cailean…

What’s your favourite mountain biking track so far?

I like the Cat’s Eye at Fort William. It’s not very hard but it’s got a bridge on it and I like bridges. Oh, and it goes through a forest too. I like forests.

If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Eggs and bacon. And pasta, especially cheesy pasta.

What’s your top movie of all time (so far)?

Terminator 2. That cop guy is really cool, but not as cool as the Terminator. He’s awesome.

What has your worst crash been?

Up at Fort William when I did a roly poly off the end of a run. I didn’t mean to and I hit my chin pretty hard. It’s still sore, look (sticks his chin out). It was pretty epic though.

Best moment on a mountain bike?

Going over the box at Glentress. Lots of adults can’t do that and I’m just a wee boy.

What’s your top bucket list mountain biking destination?

I want to ride the Val dee Solay, is that how you spell it? (Nope, Val di Sole). It’s in Italy and they have big competitions there (UCI Mountain Bike World Championships).

Name five things you love?

Chocolate, chocolate cake, movies, ice hockey, battle games, monster trucks, cake, monster trucks made of cake, motocross (that’s more than five, Cailean), mountain biking, GTA 5, Minecraft, Rubicon, big lorries, (you can stop now, if you like?) cheesy pasta, digging in sand pits, Nerf guns…….

(Cutting in…)So what don’t you like?

Getting hurt, pedalling up steep hills, olives, Brussels sprouts that make you fart, being banned from my iPad, going to bed early, getting up early………(still talking)

Give us your funniest joke?

Umm…what do you call a sheep with no head and no legs? A cloud. (A-hahahahahahahaha…..he’s still laughing!)
